Pandora One installation error: “The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.”

Error:

A new computer and I’m trying to install Pandora One and I get the following error:
“The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.”

I’ve uninstalled Air, then reininstalled, redownloaded Pandora, but I continue to get the error.

Solution:

The issue seems to be that the Adobe AIR installer needs to write the accepted End User License Agreement (EULA) into the proper folder and is finding it doesn’t have privileges to write it there. So it quietly fails to install, as it believes you haven’t accepted their agreement form.
This could be from some system setting or simply a bug in their software.

It wants to place the EULA-Accepted file here:

C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\Application Data\Adobe\AIR
(on Win7: C:\Users\*Username*\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ )
or on Mac, here:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Air/

On Mac, this appears to be mostly happening in OS X 10.7 where the user’s personal Library folder is now hidden.
There are several ways to make it visible:

If you can see this folder, highlight it and get info (command-i) and then make sure the user (you) has read and write privileges at the bottom of the info box.

On Windows, an easy solution can be simply to put a copy of the file in the proper place. Check here to download the file:

You can just download the EULA Accepted file and manually place it in the proper place.
